  Happily Kath and Kim has disappeared from the local consciousness and, from what I read, the critical reaction to the US version is that it won’t last a whole season.

  Some shows are just a bad idea wherever they are made.

  My first blog entry was on Friday 23rd March 2001. That’s seven and a half years ago now. Wordpress tells me that I have 9,194 entries so far and close to seven thousand comments.

  These figure could, of course, be out a little although I expect they are pretty accurate. And some things have changed. I have changed software from Blogger to Moveable Type to Wordpress (which I think is wonderful software). Back in the Blogger days I used various quick and dirty comments providers so all of that early interaction is lost. Not that it matters. Although most of this stuff is archives I like to think of it as just current chatter about my life.

  I have tried different things but mostly the format has been pretty constant. There’s some kind of attempt at being clever or post-modern in the title, a conversational and sometimes wry comment on what I do and don’t like, and a lame joke or reference in the lesson for the day.

  It’s not art but I keep on doing it. I am not even that taken with it these days and I certainly don’t feel compelled. But people read it. Not many people, some days thirty and some days sixty. But it’s enough to bother pecking out this nonsense.

  Lesson for the day - self awareness doesn’t have to be poetry.
