  There are less than twenty days left until Christmas and, amazingly, we have almost entirely sorted out who is getting what from us.

  Now I just need to think of some things that I might like. Nicky is kind enough to give me some clues and I want to do the same.

  Lesson for the day - it might be crass to ask but I think it’s reasonable to give some suggestions.

  I was thinking of you all day yesterday, and my other friends who are also directly affected by this legistlation. What a huge day. So happy for you.

  Amazing to see that change can actually be wrought by hard work and putting yourself on the line to campaign. You’ve done an amazing job in being part of this.

  We had a minor windfall yesterday and decided to move our stimulus spending forward. It’s a slightly tricky thing. In these uncertain times we want to be financially sensible but if everyone slows their spending all at once then the whole country/world is in for some hard time. So we met this half way and decided to splurge with a little less than half of our stimulus money,

  I spend $169 on the entire five seasons of Get Smart from our local Target. It will take me forever to watch it and Nicky might get entirely sick of it. But Get Smart is one of my favourite shows of all time and it seemed to good to miss out on.

  Lesson for the day - it feels good to be Smart with your money.

  bugger the end was an anti-climax. i think we left early more for me than for piggy!

  We received a couple of letters from Centrestink today telling us that we had been shortpaid our childcare benefit and family tax benefit and that they were putting the difference into our bank account. Sure enough, when I looked, there it was. A nice little windfall, all ready to be spent - well, some of it, at least.

  Mark got the complete series of Get Smart, Finn got the much-anticipated Batman Lego game, Leila got a baby doll and I got the bracelet I was going to get for Christmas.

  It’s one of those Pandora bracelets which are currently appearing everywhere. I like it because I’ve always wanted a charm bracelet, but didn’t like the idea of dangly charms. On this one the charms come in the form of threaded beads which go onto a snake chain. So far I have : (from left to right) a heart lock, a rose, a little spacer thingy, a red glass bead, a heart, another red bead, another little spacer thingy, a teapot and an Aquarius symbol.

  As well as shoes, Leila hearts babies. She is quite obsessed with baby dolls, to the point where she will bellow “bayeee” as we go past them in the toy department.

  So it seemed only fitting that to buy her another baby doll from our windfall. This one came with a bottle that fits into it’s mouth. When the bottle is turned the baby doll closes it’s eyes. Leila was instantly besotted and has only released the doll for the shortest amount of time possible to pay for it and remove it from it’s packaging. She even held onto it while she had her own bottle and it’s gone to bed with her too.
