One of the things that I like most about camping at Boar Gully is the quiet. I don’t realise just how much noise there is in our little street until I am out in the middle of nowhere.
However, I discovered that the bush can have its noisy moments, too. The kids were very slow to settle on our first night and it was 10pm before they were finally asleep. It took another hour for me to settle. Shortly after this, only a few feet from our tent, several wild boar started fighting a rhino and an entire platoon of heavily-armed infantry. At least, that is what is sounded like. Within a few minutes, all three of us were awake and there was no calming the kids down.
While I am certain this was just koalas and/or possums, it sounded like a major conflict. I was especially pleased on the second night to only hear birds. I like them a lot more when I am trying to sleep.
