I have had a lovely trip away. Now that it’s almost over I’m really looking forward to going home. Which is a good place to be.

The main mode of transport on Hamilton Island is (apart from thongs (on feet)) the golf buggy.
After a few days they become commonplace and almost invisible. Now that they’re changing over from petrol powered buggies to straight electric, they are also almost inaudible.
From my 8th floor room I can hear the ocean swishing up and [...]

Today was a lay day for those of us not racing. The official programme had a trip to Whitehaven beach, which is mainly a day for boozing and topless volleyball and other such delights. So we stayed home.
There was a breakfast for the townsville contingent, but certain logistical issues with getting the right emails from [...]

Non-plussed.
I was at reception getting change for the washing machine, when another woman lobbed up next to me and asked for an internet connection.
So, being a junkie, and having very dodgy dial-up, I asked how internet worked.
“You get one of these cards for an hour’s internet and you can use it in the business centre”.
“So [...]

I spent yesterday lunching and drinking so i didn’t get the laptop out.
Today I went sailing on Starkers. Owned by the Stark family, who owned the Major, and so therefore we have the best battle cry: “GO STARKERS”. I know, but i don’t think i will ever not find this amusing.
Windy today and also probably [...]

I was reading the camera manual yesterday, particularly the section on underwater photo and video. It recommended that one does not dive into water or swim with the camera in hand as the water pressure generated by this might exceed the waterproof rating of the camera.

My mother made bran muffins from a recipe cut from the side of a packet of something. It used “Vibran” which nowadays sounds like something you’d use to treat intestinal worms.
