I was just listening to the new Crowded House disc while I was washing the dishes and so far I like it. It is quite different to the last one but then it’s been over ten years and every Crowded House album has been quite different to the one before.
It got me to thinking that having an iPod should, it seems, make me open to new music because I can just load it up with everything else. However in a relatively open market, when many albums are all easy to listen to, I revert to the favourites. I was especially aware that there is a new Paul Kelly disc coming out soon and I have only listened to the last one about three times.
With this in mind I have loaded up my Nano with only the following, acquired but neglected, albums (and I am finding and loading them as I type this list).
- Hello Love by The Be Good Tanyas
- The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian
- These Days by Bluehouse
- Tilt by Colin Reid
- Time on Earth by Crowded House
- Acadie by Daniel Lanois
- My Better Self by Dar Williams
- Revival by Gillian Welch
- Into Your Heart by Hothouse Flowers
- Sunrise Over Sea by John Butler Trio
- The Lemonheads by The Lemonheads
- Ways and Means by Paul Kelly
- Home To You by Po’ Girl
- Wincing The Night Away by The Shins
- Little Cloud by The Whitlams
OK, that was way more albums than I expected to have neglected.
Lesson for the day - out of 213 songs from artists I already like there is sure to be some gold in there.
